Sweet & Power announces official launch date of season one
Sweet & Power, a ground-breaking fictional web series featuring an all Asian American female cast, will make its debut September 17th on YouTube. Written and created by prominent lifestyle influencer Carolyn Yuen Marino of the style blog Hey Pretty Thing, Sweet & Power offers unique insight into the challenging and often comical everyday moments of four millennial women. “I created Sweet & Power because I wanted to watch a show like this on Netflix,” explains Yuen Marino, “I believe that if you don’t see the representation you want out in the world, it’s up to you to get out there and create it. Sweet & Power is part of a larger cultural shift in entertainment, and we are very excited to add to that conversation.”
The series is written from the perspective of the protagonist Cici Yuen, played by creator Yuen Marino. The show features multiple on-going storylines and follows Cici and her three best friends, Yoona Kang, played by Yeji Kim Sakoda, Robin Chan, played by Becca Cheung, and Noy Inchareon, played by NoyNoy Inthaphanya. The first season follows the cast as they navigate the highs and lows of careers, relationships, sexuality, and cultural identity.
The first episode will debut on the official Sweet & Power YouTube Channel on Monday, September 17, 2018. A new 10-minute episode will air each month through January 2019. For more information on the series visit www.sweetandpower.com.
