2023 Pantone Color of the Year: Viva Magenta
Pantone has selected Viva Magenta (Pantone #18-1750) as its 2023 Color of the Year. This bright and powerful color descends from the red color family and will influence a variety of industries in the year ahead including beauty, fashion, and home decor. Studies show that 85% of consumers base their purchasing decisions on product colors, so get ready to jump into the “Magentaverse” in 2023. . While traditional magenta is generally more of a purple-ish red, Viva Magenta looks more like the color of a raspberry.
“The last few years were transformative in many ways,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute in a recent media alert. “As a result, space has been created where we are free to explore and be accepted for exactly who we feel we are, whether it be in a cybernetic universe, a conventional space, or a magical blend of both. We are creating a dynamic world that encourages experimentation, one that leverages the virtual within the physical realm and emboldens our strength and spirit to explore groundbreaking possibilities.”
If 2023 is anything like 2022, we’re going to need all the strength and creative possibilities we can gather. The great news about this happy hue is that magenta is a universally flattering color and there’s a shade that’s right for everyone.
