Seattle Designer Jennifer Charkow featured on BRAVO’s Project Runway

The local designer and founder of Stone Crow Designs will be featured on Season 18 of Project Runway airing on BRAVO December 5 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PST.

Seattle, WA / Nov. 25, 2019 - Bravo’s Emmy-winning competition series “Project Runway” returns on Thursday, December 5 at 9:30 pm ET/PT featuring sixteen new hopefuls including Seattle’s Jennifer Charkow of Stone Crow Designs. Each 90-minute episode will feature high-energy design challenges judged by Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth with insight from featured celebrity mentors Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano.

In the premiere episode, the competition begins with twists right out of the airport gate. With luggage still in tow, the designers are greeted at the iconic TWA Hotel at JFK airport ready to take flight with their first challenge: to create an innovative look inspired by humanity’s continued push into space exploration. In a “Runway” first, these unfamiliar designers have to pair up and collaborate to make cohesive pieces.

Over the course of 13 episodes, the designers will compete in a series of challenges to narrow down the finalists. The winning Project Runway designer will take home a $250,000 grand prize courtesy of Bluprint, a $50,000 prize courtesy of Pilot FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pens, a full feature in ELLE magazine, and a career-changing mentorship with the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America).

Jenn’s love for fashion began years before her official studies at the Art Institute of Seattle. Her mother was an early influence and always had a great sense of style. Her grandmother loved to sew and also made her own clothing. At 12, Jenn used her own sewing skills to make a tote bag featuring a quirky ant print, and the rest is history.  After graduation, she worked her way to the fashion office and began designing for a variety of local companies including Nordstrom, Eddie Bauer, and Tommy Bahama before launching her own label, Stone Crow Designs.

As a queer designer and proud Latina, Jenn focuses on inclusivity by offering gender-neutral designs in eco-friendly fabrics. She also incorporates old textiles and upcycled fabrics into original designs whenever possible in order to keep them out of landfills. One of her signature designs is a billowy cocoon jacket made from Army-issued parachutes, as seen on the runway at the 2017 Independent Designer Runway Show in Bellevue. Her work has also been featured on the runway at the Goodwill Glitter Gala in Seattle and at FashioNXT in Portland.

Jenn deeply believes in cultivating the Seattle fashion community and is actively involved in the Seattle Chapter of Fashion Group International. In addition, her design studio is located inside Seattle boutique Sassafras, an independent shop featuring over 60 Pacific Northwest designers and brands, where Jenn can network and collaborate with other artists.
