Local Companies Respond to COVID-19
Local companies are working hard to find creative ways to conduct business during the coronavirus outbreak. Due to social distancing guidelines, some small businesses have been forced to close entirely while others are finding new ways to mobilize their workforce. Here’s a round-up of what Seattle fashion and lifestyle brands are doing to address the COVID-19 outbreak.
Boma Jewelry owns its own factory in Thailand and recently had its workers shift gears to create face shields to protect local medical professionals. To date, Boma has created 10,000 face shields and distributed them to local hospitals in the greater Bangkok area where the factory is located. More info can be found here.
Buki has closed its downtown Seattle store in lieu of Coronavirus but will continue to operate its e-commerce site featuring an array of cozy "work from home" clothing for men and women.
Dazey is shipping from their online store and donating 10% of April sales to the Seattle Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund. You can also order Dazey Coconut Milk Bath Soak in Prism’s “Take a Bath” gift set and receive free shipping.
Eddie Bauer has committed to sending 20,000 masks (including 5,000 N95s) to the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services which will coordinate the distribution of masks to local hospitals.

Flora & Henri continues to operate its e-commerce site but has officially closed both its Seattle and Marin Country Mart locations until further notice. Foundation Seattle has closed its store until further notice and will be shipping out orders on Fridays going forward. Customers will also have the option to do curbside pick-up on Fridays from 12-3 p.m. Shop online here.
Freeman has been working to sew PPE masks for health care professionals in the community. They are also offering free shipping on all orders over $50.
Herbivore Botanicals is offering free shipping on all orders and recently introduced a Self Care Essentials set that includes a face mist, body polish, and more.
K Banana has a great assortment of self-care products including sheet masks and skincare products. They have also added hand sanitizer from Huangjisoo to the product mix. Free shipping on orders over $50.
Luly Yang Couture participated in Providence Health System's "100 Million Mask Challenge" and donated 20,000 medical-grade masks to local healthcare workers. Luly is also working on a pattern that will be available on her website for anyone to sew a face mask at home. The pattern will be available in the next week.
Moonlit Skincare has introduced hand sanitizer to the product line in response to COVID-19. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase will go toward the purchase of 1,000 masks for Seattle Children's Hospital.

Nordstrom has closed all of its stores in the U.S. and Canada and has furloughed a portion of its corporate employees starting April 5th and lasting for 6 weeks. The online store is still open for business.
Not Monday Mercantile will be shifting its focus to e-commerce sales and working with wholesale accounts to adjust inventory on a flexible basis to account for COVID-19. They also recently received 200 face masks from their sweater supplier and will be donating them to a local hospital in an effort to help protect medical professionals on the front lines.
Over & Over has stopped production to start making masks using vintage textiles for Crafters Against COVID-19, a Seattle Facebook Group. Proceeds from the sale of the masks on their website will benefit Food Lifeline. https://overandoverstyle.com/
Peridot boutique on Queen Anne is offering free shipping on all orders and has a great selection of loungewear to help you create the perfect “Work from Home” outfit.
Pipe & Row has temporarily closed its Fremont boutique and will shift its focus to e-commerce. They are offering 20% off all purchases using promo code SupportSmall. They even added an entire Work from Home shopping category.
Queen Anne Dispatch is open with limited hours due to COVID-19. Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12 - 3 p.m. You can call or text 206-708-9379 to place an order and they can pack and ship directly from the store. They have a great selection of apparel, accessories, gifts, and self-care products that are perfect for an at-home spa day.
Poppyseed is re-purposing overstock of its signature Zipper Dresses to make masks and donating them to ER nurses, contract workers, and nursing homes. In addition, they are currently working on sewing masks that will be available for sale on their website starting on Monday. Stone Crow Designs, which is part of the Sassafras network has been working to sew face masks for the community to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Oula Company has stopped production of their line to start sewing 100% cotton masks using scrap materials. The masks will go to community organizations and smaller providers who interface with the public. (They are working with stopthebug.org) This week they will deliver masks to Capitol Hill Housing and the Seattle Community Kitchen Collective. In addition, they have launched back-stock specials on their e-commerce site at up to 70% off to help generate revenue to pay their sewers during the crisis. Masks will also be made available for sale to the public starting on Saturday.
Seattle crafters are making masks and face shields to help fight community spread of coronavirus as part of the Crafters Against COVID-19 Seattle Facebook Group founded by Costume Designer Candace Frank. A variety of local brands including Prairie Underground have gotten involved to support the initiative.
Universal Standard has closed its Seattle 1:1 retail space due to COVID-19 and does not have plans to re-open.
Zumiez has closed its stores in the U.S. but is doing free shipping on all online orders and offering extended returns as a result of COVID-19.
