K Banana brings Korean beauty back to University Village with a new storefront set to open in May

After the popularity of its holiday pop-up, K Banana, the destination for K-beauty and accessories, returns to U Village with a colorful new storefront set to open on Saturday, May 18th

April 22, 2019 (Seattle, WA) - Back by popular demand: The K Banana pop-up has found a permanent home with a beautiful new storefront at University Village. What started as a temporary shop is now a year-round destination for K-Beauty fans in Seattle to get their fix. “My friends and I have always loved trying new beauty products and kept finding amazing things when we would visit Korea,” says store founder Liz Kang Yates. “With the trend gaining momentum, we wanted to create a highly engaging experience while featuring a fun and unique mix of products. After the success of the pop-up, we are so excited to be back at University Village!”

The interior of the new 650-square-foot store is a color explosion of fun featuring playful, wall-to-wall murals painted by local artist Jesse Brown. Designer Austin Hicks of Glass Box Gallery also worked closely with the team to create beautiful, custom fixtures for the store that showcase product and double as art installations. “Korean beauty products are known for their bright colors and whimsical packaging, so we designed a unique, immersive experience to complement that feeling,” says Yates.

In addition to Instagram-worthy selfie walls and a new BIY (Beauty It Yourself) gifting station featuring travel-size, K-Beauty products, accessories, and candy, K Banana is also bringing back its signature vending machine face mask wall stocked with over 150 different types of K-Beauty sheet masks. The store is also excited to announce that it will be one of the first in the U.S. to carry products from BTS, the new make-up and skincare line from the K-Pop boy band sensation. 

To coincide with the launch of the new space, K Banana has also unveiled a fresh e-commerce website featuring many of the shop’s best selling products including skincare, makeup, beauty tools, and hair accessories from brands like Dr. Jart, A’Pieu, and Knours. The online store has many of the shop’s offerings, though some items are exclusive to the brick-and-mortar.  Shop online at www.hellokbanana.com.

Doors open to the public on Saturday, May 18th. To celebrate the grand opening, K Banana will offer a special gift with any purchase, while supplies last. The new store is located at University Village at 2621 NE Village Lane Seattle, WA 98105 next door to Amour Vert and Sole Food.
